High Pointe Golf Club, is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Williamsburg, Michigan.
The course first opened for play in 1989. It was designed by Tom Doak. High Pointe was Tom Doak's first 18-hole effort as a course architect.
Doak is known for his minimalist, lay-of-the-land philosophy. The front nine at High Pointe features a Scottish links-style design with wide-open fairways and rolling greens. The back nine has very narrow fairways lined with beautiful pine trees. When you finish your round, you feel as if you've played two courses rather than one.
Par for the course is 71. From the back tees, the course plays to 6,881 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 4,943 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 9, a par-5 that plays to 559 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 11, a par-3 that plays to 168 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 3, a 436-yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at High Pointe Golf Club is # 17, a 220 yard par-3.
High Pointe Golf Club closed in 2008. The site sat fallow until spring of 2015 when the land was purchased and transformed into a hops farm to support the state's growing micro-brewery business. At least this closure has a happy ending.
